Lesotho

Lesotho is a small landlocked mountain kingdom entirely surrounded by South Africa, the only independent state to lie wholly above 1,000 metres in elevation. Formerly the British protectorate of Basutoland, it became independent in 1966. A constitutional monarchy, it exports water and labour to its neighbour. Its capital is Maseru.
