Macedonian Empire
The Macedonian Empire (336-323 BCE), created by Alexander the Great, is history's most rapid empire-building episode. From Greek Macedonia, Alexander conquered Persia, Egypt, Central Asia, and northwestern India in thirteen years without losing a battle. He founded Alexandria and spread Hellenistic culture. Alexander's death at 32 in Babylon (323 BCE) triggered the Wars of the Diadochi, dividing his empire among his generals.
