Mamluk Sultanate

The Mamluk Sultanate was a medieval Muslim state ruled by slave-soldiers (mamluks). It controlled Egypt and Syria until Napoleon's invasion in 1798, which shattered Mamluk military power at the Battle of the Pyramids.
