Morocco

Morocco, a Berber and Arab kingdom, became a French and Spanish protectorate in 1912 and regained independence in 1956. The Alaoui monarchy, the longest-reigning dynasty in the Arab world, has governed continuously. Morocco annexed the Spanish Sahara (1975) in the Green March, creating an ongoing territorial dispute. A constitutional monarchy with significant royal power, Morocco has been relatively stable amid regional turbulence.
