Myanmar

Myanmar is a state in mainland Southeast Asia, bordered by India, Bangladesh, China, Laos and Thailand, with its administrative capital at Naypyidaw. Heir to successive Burmese kingdoms, it was annexed by Britain and governed as part of India before independence in 1948. Its post-independence history has been marked by prolonged military rule and conflict with numerous ethnic minorities.
