New Jersey
A densely settled Midland society of Quaker and mixed European origin with Dutch New Netherland influence in its north, New Jersey hosted pivotal Revolutionary battles at Trenton and Princeton. Sitting between New York and Philadelphia, it industrialised early and became a corridor of refineries, ports and pharmaceuticals. It is the most densely populated US state.
