Oman
Oman is a sultanate on the southeastern Arabian Peninsula, commanding the Strait of Hormuz at the mouth of the Persian Gulf, with its capital at Muscat. Once the centre of a maritime empire stretching to East Africa and the Indian Ocean, it developed under the Al Bu Said dynasty into a strategically placed state that has often pursued a distinctive, non-aligned regional diplomacy.
