Paraguay

Paraguay is a landlocked state in the heart of South America, bordered by Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia, with its capital at Asuncion. Independent from Spain in 1811, it suffered devastating losses in the War of the Triple Alliance against its neighbours. A largely bilingual society in Spanish and Guarani, its economy rests heavily on agriculture and hydropower.
