People's Democratic Republic of Yemen

The People's Democratic Republic of Yemen was a Marxist-Leninist state in southern Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula, with its capital at Aden. Formed after British withdrawal from the strategic port of Aden, it was the Arab world's only avowedly communist state and aligned with the Soviet bloc before merging with North Yemen into a unified Republic of Yemen in 1990.
