Senegal

Senegal is a West African state on the Atlantic coast, the westernmost country on the African mainland and nearly surrounding the Gambia. A former French colony independent since 1960, Dakar served as the capital of French West Africa. Noted for a tradition of stable civilian government, it has its capital at Dakar.
