Singapore

Singapore is an island city-state at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, commanding the Strait of Malacca, one of the world's busiest shipping routes. A British trading colony and major port, it briefly joined Malaysia before separating to become an independent republic in 1965. With few natural resources, it developed into a global financial and trade hub.
