Slovakia

Slovakia, historically part of the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918, formed as part of Czechoslovakia. An independent Slovak state existed under Nazi protection (1939-45). The Velvet Divorce from the Czech Republic in 1993 was peaceful. A member of the EU and NATO since 2004, Slovakia joined the eurozone in 2009.
