Sultanate of Bijapur
One of the Deccan sultanates that emerged from the break-up of the Bahmani kingdom. It lost Goa to the Portuguese in 1510, joined the coalition that destroyed Vijayanagara in 1565, and was itself annexed by Aurangzeb in an over-extension that helped exhaust the Mughal state.
