Uruguay
Uruguay is a state in southeastern South America, between Argentina and Brazil on the Atlantic coast, with its capital at Montevideo. Long contested between its larger neighbours, it emerged as an independent buffer state in 1828. With a comparatively small population and strong pastoral economy, it built a reputation for stable democracy and social reform.
