Vandals

The Vandals were an East Germanic people who migrated across the Roman Empire during the late antique migrations. Crossing the Rhine and moving through Gaul and Hispania, they established a kingdom in North Africa centred on former Carthaginian territories, with Carthage as their capital from 429 CE. Their fleet dominated the western Mediterranean and sacked Rome in 455 CE before the kingdom fell to Byzantine reconquest in 534 CE.
