Vanuatu

Vanuatu is a Melanesian archipelago in the South Pacific, with its capital at Port Vila. Formerly the New Hebrides, it was unusually governed under a joint British-French condominium before gaining independence in 1980. Highly diverse in language and culture, it lies along a seismically active belt and is exposed to frequent cyclones.
