Wampanoag Confederacy

The people who met the Plymouth colonists in 1620 and whose sachem Massasoit allied with them for forty years. His son Metacom, known to the English as King Philip, led the 1675 war that killed a larger share of New England's population than any later American conflict and ended organised indigenous resistance in the region.
