Yemen Arab Republic

The Yemen Arab Republic was a state in the northern highlands of Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula, with its capital at Sana'a. Emerging from the overthrow of a long-standing imamate amid civil war, it stood apart from the Marxist south for decades before the two Yemeni states merged into a unified Republic of Yemen in 1990.
