Edward IV

First Yorkist king who seized the throne from Henry VI in 1461 and, after a brief interruption, ruled England with considerable success until his early death. Tall, handsome, and personally courageous in battle, he restored royal finances and brought a period of relative stability after decades of civil war. His sudden death at 40 left his young sons vulnerable to their uncle Richard of Gloucester.
