Edward VI
Son of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour who became king at nine and under whose brief reign England moved decisively towards Protestantism. The Book of Common Prayer was introduced and Roman Catholic practices abolished, laying the foundations of the Church of England. He died of tuberculosis at fifteen; his attempt to divert the succession to Protestant Lady Jane Grey failed when Mary I seized the throne.
