François Hollande
François Hollande was a Socialist President whose five-year term was overshadowed by sluggish growth and the devastating terrorist attacks of 2015 including the Charlie Hebdo massacre and the Paris attacks of 13 November. He presided over the landmark COP21 Paris Agreement on climate change in 2015. Facing record low approval ratings, he became the first Fifth Republic president to choose not to seek re-election.
