Henry II of France
Henry II continued France's rivalry with the Habsburgs and under his reign France sponsored the Huguenot colony at Guanabara Bay (France Antarctique, 1555) and Fort Caroline in Florida. He died from a jousting wound, leaving France in a succession crisis that would lead to the Wars of Religion.
