Henry IV of France
Henry IV ended the Wars of Religion with the Edict of Nantes (1598) and rebuilt France after decades of civil conflict. He supported Champlain's expeditions to Canada and the establishment of New France. His pragmatic conversion to Catholicism made him one of the most popular French kings before his assassination in 1610.
