Joachim Murat

Joachim Murat was Napoleon's most flamboyant cavalry commander and brother-in-law, renowned for his dashing charges and extravagant uniforms. Napoleon elevated him to King of Naples in 1808, making him one of the most powerful rulers in southern Europe. He wavered in his loyalty during the coalition wars and was ultimately executed in 1815 after a failed attempt to retake his kingdom following Napoleon's defeat.
