John Rackham (Calico Jack)
English pirate captain best known for designing the Jolly Roger skull-and-crossbones flag and for sailing with Anne Bonny and Mary Read. Based at Nassau during the Pirate Republic era. Captured off Jamaica in 1720 and hanged; his tarred body was displayed in a gibbet as a warning to other pirates.
