Juan Sebastián Elcano

Juan Sebastián Elcano was the Basque navigator who completed the first circumnavigation of the globe after Magellan's death, bringing the Victoria back to Sanlúcar de Barrameda in September 1522 with eighteen surviving crew. Charles I granted him a coat of arms with the motto Primus circumdedisti me (You first encircled me).
