Lee Kuan Yew
Founding Prime Minister of Singapore (1959-1990) who transformed a poor, post-colonial city-state with no natural resources into one of the world's wealthiest nations within a generation. Lee's Singapore model — combining authoritarian governance with free-market economics, rule of law, meritocracy, and anti-corruption — became a reference point for Asian developmental states. GDP per capita rose from $500 in 1965 to $20,000 by 1990.
