Osei Tutu I
Founder and first Asantehene of the Asante Empire (r. c. 1701–1717) who united the Akan-speaking Asante clans, mobilised them to defeat the suzerain Denkyira at the Battle of Feyiase around 1701, established Kumasi as capital, and created the Golden Stool as the spiritual symbol of Asante unity and sovereignty.
