Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui

Pachacuti ("earthquake" or "he who transforms the world") began his reign by repelling a Chanka confederation attack and proceeded to conquer territory stretching from modern Ecuador to Chile. He reorganised the empire administratively, built the road network, and constructed Machu Picchu as a royal retreat. His successors extended the empire further.
