Pope Leo XIV

Robert Francis Prevost, born 1955 in Chicago, became the first American pope on May 8, 2025, taking the name Leo XIV. A member of the Order of Saint Augustine, he served as Bishop of Chiclayo in Peru and as Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops before his election following the death of Pope Francis.
