Ippolito Aldobrandini, pope 1592–1605. Received the conversion of Henry IV of France, which ended the Wars of Religion. Oversaw the final revision of the Vulgate Bible. A rigorous reformer, he had philosopher Giordano Bruno burned at the stake for heresy in 1600.
