Columbus's Fourth Voyage
Columbus's last crossing followed the Central American coast from Honduras to Panama, looking for the passage to the Indian Ocean he still believed lay just beyond. There was none. Worm-eaten ships forced him aground on Jamaica, where he and his crew were stranded for a year before rescue.
