Venezuela Humanitarian Crisis

Venezuela's economic collapse under Nicolás Maduro — caused by falling oil prices, mismanagement, and corruption — produced hyperinflation exceeding 1 million percent, food and medicine shortages, and the largest refugee crisis in Latin American history (7+ million people fled by 2023). In 2019, National Assembly president Juan Guaidó declared himself interim president with US support; the military remained loyal to Maduro. Russia, China, and Cuba backed Maduro. Targeted sanctions and oil embargoes deepened the crisis without dislodging him.
