Orange Revolution in Ukraine
Ukraine's November 2004 presidential election between pro-Western Viktor Yushchenko and pro-Russian Viktor Yanukovych was marred by massive fraud. The Orange Revolution demonstrated Ukrainians' desire for European integration and democratic governance — and Russia's determination to prevent it, foreshadowing the 2014 Maidan uprising.
